Prepare to listen

The recording is an original announcement or instructional talk. Predict the kind of information needed from the question, not its answer. Listen once for gist, then again for corrections, contrasts, sequence and conditions. Numbers can refer to different things: separate a meeting time from a departure time.

Check meaning, not isolated words

Use the en-US audio in the exercises. Do not read the solution until after answering. Record only the information required. In real communication, ask for repetition or confirmation if safety, time or permission is unclear.

Intonation in statements, commands and lists
The site is protected. ↘ Stay on the path. ↘ Bring water ↗, a hat ↗ and a notebook ↘. Neutral statements and firm instructions often fall; non-final list items often rise. Politeness and context can alter these contours. Read the list as one connected message, not three unrelated questions.
Grammar
A to-infinitive clause can express purpose: We record stories to preserve them. It can follow a noun or adjective: a place to visit; ready to help. After an ordinal, superlative or only, it can modify a noun: the first student to arrive. Negation is not to: We agreed not to touch the artefacts. Match the implied actor and do not use for + bare infinitive to express purpose.
