Original reading
A head teacher’s original message to school-leavers: Leaving school does not mean finishing learning. You will meet tasks for which no teacher has prepared an exact answer. Begin by asking a clear question, choosing a reliable resource and trying a manageable step. Feedback may reveal a mistake; use it to revise your method rather than protect a perfect image. Formal courses can be valuable, but learning also occurs through supervised work, reading and conversation with knowledgeable people. Do not confuse collecting certificates with understanding. At the same time, recognise the limits of informal advice: some tasks require recognised training or professional authority. Keep a record of what you can now explain or do, not only what you have attended. Your next plan need not predict every change in the world. It should help you remain curious, responsible and willing to learn when circumstances change.
