Original reading passage
Our class visited a museum display about homes. A local guide showed us a model stilt house with a living floor raised above the ground. Wooden posts supported the floor, and steps led to the entrance. The space below could be used for work or storage, depending on the household. The guide explained that a house design should be understood in its local setting. Not every person in an ethnic group lived in the same kind of home, and modern families could choose different materials. Back at school, we compared the model with our own homes. We asked about room use and daily activities instead of describing one type of home as better than another.
