Genre: a blog about a music-event experience
Last Sunday, I went to a small music event at our community hall. I expected a noisy competition, but the afternoon felt friendly and relaxed. The youth choir opened with a bright song, and the audience clapped along. My favourite act was a duet between a guitarist and a bamboo-flute player. At first, the guitar seemed too strong; then the performers softened it so that both instruments could be heard. During the break, I spoke to a volunteer who had helped arrange the seating. She explained that a clear view mattered just as much as good sound. I left with a new respect for the people behind a performance. Next time, I want to help as well as listen.
