Original reading passage
When a storm warning reached a coastal village, the school did not wait for the wind to become strong. Teachers contacted families and followed the local authority’s plan. Some students were studying in the library when the announcement came. They closed their books and moved calmly with an adult. At home,Mai helped put drinking water and a torch into the family emergency kit. Her father checked information from official sources instead of forwarding an unverified message. The family left when they were instructed to evacuate. After the storm, trained workers inspected damaged buildings before residents returned. Mai learnt that preparation was not a sign of panic. A clear plan and reliable information could reduce risk, although no plan could remove every danger.
