Original reading passage
A new shopping centre opened near Lan’s home. It had a supermarket, a bookshop, small clothes shops, and a covered seating area. The centre opened at nine every morning and closed at nine in the evening. Lan liked being able to compare several products in one visit, especially on rainy days. However, she noticed that attractive displays encouraged people to buy things they had not planned to buy. Before her visit, she wrote a short list and set a spending limit. She checked the final price and return policy before choosing a schoolbag. Her report concluded that a shopping centre could be convenient, but a careful shopper still needed a clear purpose and a budget.
