Original reading passage
At a school exchange, Bao interviewed Hana about a family skill that she wanted to keep. Her grandmother repaired clothes instead of throwing them away after a small tear. Hana watched first, then practised with a safe needle under adult supervision. She also recorded her grandmother’s instructions with permission. Bao described how his father taught him to prepare a simple family dish. They realised that keeping a way of life did not mean refusing every modern tool. A video could help a young learner remember the steps, while direct practice helped develop the skill. Their report described these two families only. They did not claim that every person in either country cooked or repaired clothes in the same way.
