Communicative purpose

Asking and answering about prices

A: How much is a bowl of vegetable soup?
B: It is thirty thousand dong.

Ask How much is…? for one item and How much are…? for several items. State the price and currency clearly; ask again politely if the amount is unclear.

Practise, listen, repair

Plan the information your partner needs. Speak clearly and leave time for a reply. A listener can say “Could you say that again?” or “Do you mean…?” After checking, paraphrase one key detail. Change roles and use new real details rather than reciting the same dialogue.

Design a poster about eating habits in one area or country. Include main meals, typical mealtimes and examples of food and drink. Identify the household or source behind each example; habits differ among people.
