Unit 4 Comparisons: like + noun means similar (“This drum sounds like thunder”). Different from shows difference. As + adjective + as expresses equality; not as + adjective + as means a lower degree. Keep the adjective in its base form, not a comparative: “as interesting as”, not “as more interesting as”. Compare the same feature and use evidence rather than treating personal preference as fact.
Unit 5 Quantities: some + plural countable noun or uncountable noun: some eggs, some flour. A lot of/lots of can go with both types: a lot of apples, lots of milk. Use how many with plural countable nouns and how much with uncountable nouns. A container makes an uncountable food countable: two bottles of water. Do not add plural -s to rice, flour or water when speaking of the substance.
Unit 6 Prepositions of time: at seven o’clock; on Monday/on 12 May; in June/in 2026/in the morning. Use at night, but in the evening. Place: in a room or area, on a surface/floor, at an exact point such as at the entrance. Meaning decides: at school refers to the school activity/site, while in the classroom places someone inside a room. A visit plan needs both time and meeting point.
