At the start of term, Class 10B wanted to make its classroom greener. Some students proposed buying new decorations made from recycled plastic. Others asked a simpler question: what could they stop wasting? For one week, they recorded how often the lights stayed on during outdoor activities. They found three occasions when the empty classroom was still lit. The class then appointed a different energy monitor each day. The monitor checked lights and fans but never touched damaged wires. Students also brought refillable bottles and used both sides of spare paper. After a month, they had fewer disposable cups in their classroom bin. They did not claim that the whole school had become carbon neutral. Their records covered only one classroom, and they had not measured electricity use. Instead, they displayed a clear list of actions and limits. The project taught them that green living begins with preventing unnecessary use, not merely replacing old objects with new products labelled green.
