Thao: Could you tell me what skills an engineer needs?
Long: Mathematics matters, but teamwork and communication matter too.
Thao: You still study new methods? That is interesting.
Thao attended a career event at school. A civil engineer described designing structures with a team, while a nurse explained the importance of communication as well as technical knowledge. Thao noticed that neither speaker had followed a perfectly straight path. Both had continued learning after their first qualification. Although Thao enjoyed drawing, she did not choose a career only from that interest. She listed the tasks she wanted to explore, the skills she needed and the questions she still had. The school adviser suggested short, safe opportunities to observe work with permission. Thao’s plan was a starting point for learning, not a promise that her interests or the job market would never change.
