Original reading passage
For Tet, Nhi’s family used to buy all their decorations. This year, her grandmother suggested making paper flowers together. At first, Nhi thought the activity would take too long. However, while folding paper, she heard stories about earlier family celebrations. Her grandmother explained that traditions were not valuable simply because they were old. They mattered when they helped people care for one another. Nhi’s cousin joined by video call because he worked far away. The family saved a flower for him instead of complaining about his absence. After the celebration, they kept the reusable decorations in a box. Nhi realised that a family could preserve a custom and still adapt it to new circumstances. Other families might celebrate differently, and that difference deserved respect.
