Strategy and reasoning
An exam strategy should improve reasoning, not replace it with a trick. For sound questions, identify the tested sound or stress and allow the declared accent; spelling alone is unreliable. For vocabulary, substitute a candidate in context and preserve meaning, register and grammar. For grammar, identify the whole clause before selecting a form. For a cloze, check both local syntax and the relation across sentences.
For reading, separate a main idea from a detail; locate evidence for a stated fact and do not treat an unstated claim as false unless the question asks for an unsupported option. An inference must follow from supplied information. Resolve a pronoun by agreement and context. A paraphrase must preserve actor, time, negation and degree. In ordering and sentence insertion, track reference words and logical links rather than choose the shortest option. The 2025-format English paper uses contextual cloze, ordering and reading, not separate pronunciation questions; this printed appendix also reviews broader task strategies.
