Present simple describes routines and states: Linh washes the dishes every evening. Present continuous describes temporary activity now: She is revising now, so her brother is washing them tonight. Add -s for third-person singular in the simple; use am/is/are + -ing in the continuous. Know, understand and want normally describe states, not current actions.
Will + base verb expresses a decision made now or a prediction; be going to + base verb expresses a prior intention or a prediction based on present evidence. In a passive clause, the receiver becomes the subject: People collect paper → Paper is collected. Keep the original tense in be: will collect → will be collected. The agent with by is optional when unimportant.
Join two independent clauses with a coordinating conjunction: and adds, but contrasts, or offers a choice, so introduces a result. Each side needs its own clause. Want/hope/decide + to-infinitive: We hope to perform. Let/make + object + bare infinitive: They let us rehearse. A passive make construction changes: We were made to wait.
