Present perfect connects past change to now: The area has become busier. Use for/since for continuing periods and this is the first time + present perfect for experience. Double comparatives show progressive change: busier and busier, more and more crowded, less and less quiet. Correlative comparatives show association: The more people travel, the more capacity is needed. Do not confuse percentage points with percentage change when describing urban shares.

A complex sentence includes a subordinate clause: Although she was inexperienced, she prepared carefully. Choose a connector for the intended relationship. A sentence with and is not automatically compound if and joins only words.
